“It’s the very image formation of the human being and her existence that reminds us of the room’s significance. The imaging of the human in the room clearifies the fate of the human, her lot in life or in a particular moment.”

Roy Andersson in the article Människan och rummet from the magazine Forum Inredning Arkitektur Design, No 1, 2001

During the long feature film break after Giliap, Roy Andersson founded Studio 24 on Östermalm in Stockholm in 1984, in a quest for independence. Since then, hundreds of commercials, two short films and three feature films were shot there. The third feature entitled A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence premiered internationally at The 71st Venice Film Festival on September 2nd, 2014, where it was awarded The Golden Lion for Best Film.
